Entertainment For Seniors

Concerts, Sing-Along, Karaoke, Background Music, Playlists

Classic Hits are what Seniors remember and love.

◾ Why Classic Hits for Seniors.

Classic Hits never fail when it comes to entertainment for seniors.

At my performances, I want the audience to be cheerful, to respond to the music. I hope to spark memories of joyful moments and encourage active participation in the show. The audiences usually enjoy themselves very much. Whatever the type or theme of the event, the participants leave it feeling happy and positively charged.

◾Are you planning to organize a Concert, Sing-Along, Karaoke or Music Trivia? Should it be an Interactive Performance, or do you need Background Music for an event or a party? When the hosts have their scenarios and objectives, my vast repertoire allows me to bring their plans to life.

Maybe you need a Playlist of Soothing Music or Music for Dinner. Perhaps you want to complement a specific program or target a particular group.

Music can set the mood and help to manage emotions and psychological conditions (disorders that affect your mood, thinking and behaviour).

◾Classic Hits combine Music and Reminiscing. Both Music and Reminiscing are scientifically proven to have Therapeutic Effects.

When some seniors struggle with the effects of isolation and loneliness, reminding people of happy times and sharing memories can combat depression and support wellness. Reminiscing is also a great way to exercise the brain; it can help maintain and improve a senior’s cognitive abilities, interaction and mood. Listening to music or viewing art is another way of sharing memories. It increases meaningful interaction between seniors, caregivers, and loved ones and fosters deep connections.

For the last 18 years, when I don’t make music, I work with seniors.

Here are a few types of activities that I find very beneficial. I incorporate them into my shows whenever possible.

◾Programs that allow asking open-ended questions. It can be done during music activities, armchair travel etc. One can also begin a story about a familiar past event and urge the residents to finish telling the tale.

◾Physical activities improve the independence of seniors and thus increase their mood, outlook and self-esteem, reducing feelings of depression and anxiety. Physical activities help oxygen reach the brain and bloodstream and produce endorphins. Endorphins are responsible for feelings of well-being and pain relief.
This type of activity might include Music and Movement and similar programs.

◾Similarly, seniors who spend Time Outdoors may experience less depression and anxiety.
Researchers at the University of East Anglia summarized 140 studies from 20 countries (including the UK, US, Spain, France, Germany, Australia and Japan). These studies involved 290 million people. They concluded that: “…exposure to greenspace reduces the risk of type II diabetes, cardiovascular disease, premature death, and high blood pressure.”

◾Spiritual activities.
